OUGD603 / Extended Practice / Bringing work to life (online)

I wanted to get across a couple of projects online and in situ - essentially recreating what they should look like irl but in a convincing digital way.

Firstly, the secret 7 sleeve that never got sent off!

I'm proud of it as an almost sculptural piece and needed showing in situ of a record coming out of it. I took it into Photoshop, cleaned up the scan and then placed it  over a cobalt background.

As is shown below, I cleaned up the original, gave it a little feather so it looks a little more natural against the blue - less harsh. This is a way of making things on screen look 'real'. I love this place on screen where something looks real!

I then made the white card sleeve slowly come out of the acrylic sleeve, and finally the record pops out!

I also wanted to mock up my recent Penguin book covers, so I created a light grey back ground and played around with drop shadows(!) to make the flat book cover have  a bit of depth and the illusion of pages within the book!

Just a small bit of time spent AFTER coming to a final design to put it in situ does a lot to give you an impression as to whether it's going to be successful in its' eventual placement.
