I've followed this chap for a while on instagram and enjoyed his minimal compositions. As shown below, Gray tackles large subjects with the simplest flick of a brush or nudge in the right direction with a shape.
I particularly enjoy his take on Antichrist, a ridiculously simple cross evokes mystery and a sinister edge.
He also uses colour in extremely sparing fashion, making the actual appearance of colour a key point on the cover.
Finally, another favourite uses fantastic photography as a backdrop for stark typography all held within a cut out piece of white.
As a trend, Gray tackles serious pieces of work, and you'd undoubtedly know this before even reading the titles of each book. He evokes feeling, both spoken and unspoken.
