The cover features names of students in white into grey (lovely and subtle) whilst a slipcase with cut up words (just about legible as Take Shape) goes over the top. Once the slipcase is removed, the transparency means the glyphs align and 'take shape' before your eyes.
In terms of theme, they've clearly come to some conclusion about uni shaping students and to 'take shape' is to be on the cusp of something.
Our ideas have largely revolved around a. The hub and energy of the studio / b. The materialism of the process, the learning of a 'trade'.
We've reached out to an old friend of mine who works with words (almost a concrete poet) with some loose themes to see what he comes up with. Myself and Alec are certainly not word-shy but feel it might be better in more experienced hands. A considered, thought provoking title can stick with you for years. Take Shape isn't genius but it works and stays with you.
Take Shape is also successful in incorporating a visual into a theme. The words literally take shape. Something to consider.
Next steps:
In tomorrow morning photographing the textiles studio as empty as possible and then periodically throughout the day in order to catch different ~energies~.
