OUGD603 / Extended Practice / In Depth / Evaluation

I'm really pleased with the outcome of this project. I believe we hit all of our initial targets, making the most of students' work and producing something that is literally of the University, the work that is produced there.

The overall aesthetic of the completed is clean and contemporary and the concept of making people look closer was achieved through careful curation of work. Theo's surface pattern work really works in this context, with all of the fine details of the concrete providing a perfect backdrop for the words to sit onto.

In Depth as a choice of name was in hindsight a little too serious and dry, particularly with its' sub title 'an exploration of practice'. Perhaps the copy could have been wittier or more thought provoking, however the work demands serious attention and to be taken seriously as the students enter the real world of design practice.

The rich imagery works well across print and screen, with us employing moving GIFS flicking between the work for use as Instagram / Facebook / Twitter adverts which they would most likely be viewed as. Print wise, the imagery scales up well to A0 size as we displayed it on pasteboards around Leeds.

In conclusion, whilst it wasn't perfectly executed and worded, In Depth is an exciting and vibrant end of year show concept which portrays the University and the work within it in a very favourable light.
