After seeing some of Elliots brilliant layout designs, I decided to try out my favourite - a bar of colour housing the necessary type and info.
Using our placeholder rip design for Andrew Graham Dixon throws up some issues of orientation. To fit the information bar and to get Andrew's face large enough on the page means we lose a lot of the other imagery - the terracotta army etc.
Above: big.
Above: smaller.
Above: biggest. Probably the most successful.
After taking the Andrew designs to the group, there were some reservations about the bar on the left, so we began looking at how we could implement it in other places. The middle worked really well, especially with my Daft Punk ripped imagery but would definitely need new imagery for the AGD poster. The above dark red strip really dominates the poster, whereas the lighter grey below strikes a nice balance between holding info and not overpowering the imagery.
