My go to type is handwritten and then scanned in, so this is what I began with. I actually think it throws the balance off - having hand rendered typography along with handmade and collated imagery.
Above I've played with composition, adding the details in a mono typeface which reminded Elliot of a train ticket. Still not right.
Elliot came in today with a few visuals that I loved, notably the coloured bar down the left side which struck me as a completely unique visual and one with enough versatility to change throughout different interpretations.
I applied this to some imagery i generated through ripping various years of Daft Punk, wondering if our link between the two talks could be the rips - which conceptually work as the thoughts and history behind the speaker. I really like where this is going, I think it's quite beautiful as well as providing a consistent platform for the typography to sit.
Experimenting with using the shape of the last rip to leave negative space for type. I think the solid colour works better in the long run as a consistent space for type.
Alec brought this half tone imagery to the table and we all loved it, noting that it fits with Daft Punk's general aesthetic better than the rips that I'd made previously.
I added the halftone imagery to the previous grid I'd been working to and changed the bar to black which gave the piece a really ominous, fittingly robotic feel.
