OUGD603 / Extended Practice / GF SMITH x LPF / Process

Trying out different sizes of woodblock type at Rossington Streey.


Below, the disparate sizes lend an aesthetic that letterpress has become known for - a kookiness that i'd like to avoid. The C is strong though.



I like the above ampersand. It's funny how some letters just look right.


Below, the chosen 3 wood blocks inked with white, ready to be pressed.

Above and below, all of the iterations of hand printed letters.  Pressed by hand, these have a very vague outline - showing the wood's grain.
