OUGD603 / Extended Practice / Peter&Paul / End of Year / Refining & Scouting

Myself and Rory reconvened today and ran through our thoughts on what we'd already put together. We both decided that Details wasn't engaging enough as a title for a big show - yet we are sure we're onto something with the 'up close' concept.

Our next port of call was to scout out some actual student work in order to make the concept mean something. We went to printed textiles and Illustration, had a scout about and came across some incredible work. Our key focus was pieces that looked great when scanned in or looked at in extreme detail.

Theo from Printed Textiles had some incredible textures created through experiments with rock and concrete. To be honest, this was EXACTLY what our concept requires. Mysterious and intriguing:

Joe Boyd's half tone dot screen-prints were bright and vivid and we saw the potential of cropping into details within the prints:

Jonny Pell from GD screenprints with crazy blends of colour and produces these super contemporary visuals which we felt would be even more disconcerting when cropped into:

Ailish from Printed textiles had done these lovely, spooky prints from pieces of fruit rolled into ink, the colours are what we really like about these.
