Creative Networks was a great collaborative brief between myself, Alec & Elliot. Our working style is complementary and this shone through in the work that we produced.
Coming out of the briefing, we all picked up on the requirements of the CN team, notably their desire to give Creative Networks a recognisable and recurring aesthetic whilst then reflecting each speaker individually. Looking at our response, I believe we hit the brief on the head. The central space allows room for all of the required info and would stay the same for each speaker, this then leaves the other edges to fill with with imagery based around the speaker.
Another target was to elevate the lecture poster into the realm of gig poster, building excitement through gorgeous aesthetic. Again I believe we were successful in spades here. The Andrew Graham-Dixon piece is quite beautiful, with the rips working conceptually, emulating Dixon's oft harsh critique of art - particularly contemporary.
The extension of the posters into vinyl wall pieces tied the posters to the real physical space that it would inhabit on the night of the show with bits of half tone dotted imagery representing the Daft Punk talk and ripped artworks creeping up the bar walls for AGD's talk.
It was a challenge working as a three. I was adamant that the rips were the right way to go for Andrew Graham-Dixon piece, and the final piece is hopefully proof that despite a little resistance, it was the right way to go! Alec brought in the Daft Punk imagery which I think equally hits the spot in terms of aesthetically summing up the speaker.
