I've begun designing for tests in order to laser cut stencils and begin testing sound making! This first try is pretty much straight from BareConnected's website, setting out a basic layout for a connected keyboard.
From here I began thinking about how typography could be brought in to these shapes - always considering the conductivity of each 'key' which needs to be touched to make sound.
Above, the typography is square and fits into they keys BUT parts such as the counters in A and B wouldn't work as is... they need to connect to the outer section. Below I added some angles tot the type to solve problems with legibility in the B and D.
Next I moved a couple of connections and added two which I will test with drum patterns / changing of sounds?
Below shows implementation of the hatch technique in order to increase conductivity. I've also tested the letterforms without their surroundings, though realistically they need to be more key shaped.
