OUGD603 / Extended Practice / Yearbook / Liaising with Students

Much of the last few days has been taken up with sending proofs of respective pages to the 70 students. From there i've received mainly approvals but a couple of people have wanted changes to images, text or email addresses.

Whilst we'd like to have control over the aesthetic of the whole piece, at the end of the day, this is the students' work and they should always have the final say as to what goes into it.

As an example of us asking the student for a better image, Mary sent us this:

I wasn't convinced the photo showed off the potential of the patterns in the work. It's psychedelic work and this should be able to be conveyed on a flat image. We had a quick look around on her online presence sent Mary a request for a certain image from her Instagram.

She was more than happy and scanned the image, sending it the same day.

The new spread (her page to left) pops so much more and does more justice to her work.

There are a few similar examples of us simply asking for better / more appropriate imagery.
