We went through examples of imagery for our 'Separate' and kept returning to 'cutting things in half' such as laptops, fruit etc. This seemed a little ~ for the sake of it ~ so we moved onto thinking of examples such as Chalk and Cheese to visually describe being separate. Eventually we just ran out of ideas and seemed to realise that the idea just wasn't that good!
More thinking ensued and eventually we thought of a series entitled Details, the imagery of which could be microscopic or magnified bits of work from across the disciplines of the college. We felt this would be inclusive of all departments and could lead to some extremely exciting imagery!
Details suggests thorough thought processes within the work and forgoes the polished finished piece in favour of working out and showing a real design process.
I quickly mocked this up with a scanned circuit board I had in my room with little regard for typography yet. We're excited by the potential for fashion imagery (stitching) and printed textiles (pattern) but also printmaking suck as letterpress or screenprinting inks. We just need to be creative in our image making.
