OUGD603 / Extended Practice / Laura Farrall Brand / Breakthrough!

Started off today pushing on from Laura 's positive response to more angular bike (see previous post).

I decided to create some sort of shield or badge, taking in the work of Drew Millward but to a less intricate degree.

The bike is constructed to perfect 90 / 45 degree angles so is easy to turn on its' side etc. I tried to make a diamond shape out of some lines which made the L and F glyphs but it wasn't quite hitting the mark.

The addition of colour definitely added something but colour is not always available in every application, the logo needs to hold its' own as b/w but colour is a powerful part of the overall image.

The chosen mustard yellow comes straight from the bikes that Laura is so often around and so often appear in her images.

The two above were trying to make the piece a more cohesive square / diamond by giving the edges some form. After all of these iterations, I began to see the wheels as bug eyes but felt we were on the right path... ish.

Laura asked me then to return to some previous type she liked, and with that came a bit more experimentation and quickly onto an idea that both myself and her are really happy with!
