OUGD503 / Extended Practice / Yearbook / Working with spreads

Met with alec today to continue the planning of the inner spreads. We've decided to pitch to Duncan with our first ~image per spread~ as backup and then these spreads as our main intention.

The brief for these spreads is essentially 'no white space', allowing the spread to pack huge visual punch with up to 3 different pieces of work from each student.

Some spreads work better than others and this depends largely on the type of work of the student. Of course, the main intention is to 'sell' the students work; as such I feel this layout is spot on, creating a little world of the students' work. I feel an end of year book should convey an emotion and a feeling of what it's like to be on the course and to be in the studio.

The above spreads work very well together, each chaotic but displaying different aspects of the student at hand's practice.

Again, certain work just works naturally in this style - the metallic always working as a background whilst the forefront was worked out through trial and error as to which colours went together. The rough cutout style is achieved through the Photoshop square rubber tool, which adds to the scrapbook feel.

These spreads are just fantastic, a feast for the eyes. (possible title Feast?) Addition of page numbers and names to the side of the pages works well / links to cover.
